JohnPaulRetreats support the work of Francis...

John Paul Retreats will be supporting the weekly soup kitchen (Thursdays) of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal by making a weekly purchase of 100 scotch pies from McQueens on Isle Of Bute.

The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal work with the poorest of the poor and follow in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi. John Paul Retreats have started to support the friars who are visited by over 60 homeless people every week.

The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal were founded by Fr. Benedict Joseph Groeschel in 1987. Initially based in the Bronx, they have since set up friaries in the United Kingdom, including houses in London and Bradford.

If you would like to discover more about the work of the friars, you can visit their website here and also listen to a recent BBC World Update broadcast.
